When does my business need to file an amendment?
An amendment may be required when information in the formation document changes, such as the legal name or certain structural provisions. Not every internal business change requires an amendment.
A change should be matched to the record that actually needs updating. Some changes can be reported on an annual or periodic report, while others require a formal amendment, registered-agent change, tax-agency update, or local license update. Updating information in the Swyft Filings customer account does not automatically change every government record for the business.
