How do I change my business name?
A legal entity name is generally changed by obtaining appropriate internal approval and filing a name-change amendment with the state. Other records, licenses, accounts, and contracts may also need updating.
A change should be matched to the record that actually needs updating. Some changes can be reported on an annual or periodic report, while others require a formal amendment, registered-agent change, tax-agency update, or local license update. Updating information in the Swyft Filings customer account does not automatically change every government record for the business.
