There are a number of circumstances in which your business may be required to obtain a Certificate of Good Standing. Some suppliers or organizations may require one to enter into a contract with them. Obtaining one can also be necessary for your company to register itself to conduct business in another state (through foreign qualification).
The following information is typically outlined on a Certificate of Good Standing:
- You organization's official name
- The fact that you are authorized to legally conduct business in the state
- That your company’s annual report requirements have been observed
- That the company has not recently filed an Articles of Dissolution
